OMRON : Sponsorship for Wheelchair Marathons and Relay Races

OMRON sponsors the Oita International Wheelchair Marathon and Japan's National Wheelchair Relay Race to promote the participation of people with disabilities in society and to further understanding of disabilities among society at large.

Oita International Wheelchair Marathon(sponsor from 1988)

Initiated in commemoration of the United Nations' International Year of Disabled Persons in 1981. At the 31th annual marathon held in 2011, 252 athletes from 19 countries and territories competed. About 100 OMRON Group employees volunteer at the marathon each year.

National Wheelchair Relay Race(sponsor from 1990)

Began in 1990 and held in Kyoto. At the 22th annual marathon in 2011, 252 athletes on 29 teams from 23 prefectures and regions throughout Japan competed. About 30 OMRON Group employees volunteer at the race each year.
